Frequently Asked Questions

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy that helps people heal from the emotional distress of traumatic memories. By using bilateral stimulation—typically guided eye movements—while focusing on a memory, it lowers the emotional charge and helps the brain reprocess traumatic, "stuck" memories. I will discuss in detail with you what this process would look like for you individually and if it seems like a good fit.

It is generally best to start with weekly sessions to build trust and to help in seeing improvement as soon as possible. However, I am always happy to work with your schedule and finances, and adjust as needed. Depending on the situation, counseling can take up to 1 year for some, while others might need a few months.

During your first session, I will review your history and the issue that is bringing you into counseling. We will discuss your goals and what it might look like to move towards those through therapy.
-
At the end of each month you will automatically be sent a receipt showing what you have paid, the billing code and a diagnostic code for you to submit to your insurance. I work with you to make sure we identify the codes that have the most likelihood of getting approved.
